Why specify a canvas tent?

How is mold or mildew treated on a canvas tent?
Wear a mask to avoid inhaling spores. Lay the canvas out flat in a dry, sunny area and brush the mold and mildew off the fabric with a stiff brush.
Wash the affected area with a good mold remover in hot water, or rinse with 1 cup of lemon juice and 1 cup of salt dissolved in hot water.
Mold caught at an early stage can be removed without losing the tent. A dedicated mold and mildew stain remover, used as directed on the label, is safe and effective. The treatment does reduce the water repellency of the canvas, so the area should be retreated with a silicone-based repellent, which restores water resistance without clogging the pores or affecting breathability.
